Who
We Are: The Lansings
of
Days of Old Herb Farm
In 1995, the Lansing family moved from the suburbs of Richmond to a farmette in rural Southside Virginia. Various members of the family developed new hobbies such as organic herbal and vegetable gardening, canning, grinding grain and baking bread, raising and selling high quality, old breed animals, and spinning wool into yarn. With Civil War battlefields right in their “backyard” combined with their interest in history, it became a passion to create things the way it used to be done.
From an interest in herbal gardening, the Lansings learned how God has put many plants on the earth for our benefit to comfort and heal us. Herbal treatments have been used successfully for thousands of years to aid in healing and comfort. During the 20th century, when pharmaceutical companies developed chemical treatments for various ailments, the time-tested herbal recipes soon became “old-fashioned”. The precious herbal recipes that had been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years were no longer shared. So in a few short decades, the God-given gift of natural plants for our benefit is rarely used by the general public.
The goal at Days of Old Herb Farm is to provide pure and natural products created by the same methods that were used in the 18th and 19th centuries. Their recipes involve no short-cuts. Ingredients are like those used in the days of old. Extreme care for purity and quality is Days of Old Herb Farm's priority, and we believe you will be able to tell the difference!
